About
Professional Work
I am available for Live Performance, Content Production, Technical Direction, Speaking Engagements, Workshops and Consultation. Some of my clients include:
- Numark had me develop a performance and presentation to show off their NuVJ Video Mixing Console through a tour of Apple Stores in the US.
- The Walt Disney Concert Hall put on an experimental night featuring The Orb, John Tejada, Boom Bip and others. I coordinated the projections for the interiors of the building and curated the video artists who would be performing throughout the night, along with building an interactive Video Synth for the attendees to enjoy.
- The LA Weekly Detour Festival featured Beck, Basement Jaxx, Queens of the Stone Age, Shepard Fairey and many more. I was commissioned to create an installation in the Cal Trans Plaza during the event.
- Remix Hotel recruited me to moderate a discussion on the state of VJing and Live Video Performance.
- Instant Films challenges 7 groups of filmmakers to each make a short in 48 hours. I digitize and mix the films into a seamless show on the fly for the Sunday Night Screenings.
- Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins’ debut music video features the drummer/singer triggering video clips on a huge screen. I designed the real-time drum triggering setup under the direction of Partizan’s Alma Har’el.
Specialty/Focus
I’m currently dedicating my VJ studies to creating interactive Audio/Visual instruments, using programs like Apple’s Quartz Composer and various hardware such as Sequencers, Keyboards, Joysticks, Dance Mats and Playstation Gamepads. You can see one of my most recent Gamepad experiments here: A/V Synth controlled from Gamepad.

I’ve been featured in VJ: Audio-Visual Art and VJ Culture by D-Fuse
and The VJ Book: Inspirations and Practical Advice for Live Visuals Performance by Paul Spinrad.
Community
I’ve been building a VJ community in Los Angeles since 2003:
- LAVA is a monthly meetup for Los Angeles-area VJs. We share tips on current hardware and software, show each other what we’re working on, and network for gigs.
- share.LA Free of charge and open to all artists, this monthly Audio/Visual jam night is a bleeding-edge romp through the current state of A/V performance in LA. Part of Share Global.
- The Lava Flow is a blog focused on Los Angeles VJ happenings and other current VJ news.
- VJ Kung Fu is an online Motion Magazine for the DIY Video Artist.
